Biographical Sketch
I am a Research Scientist in Data Science and Machine Learning at the USC Center for Economic and Social Research (CESR). With a background in engineering and social work, I am particularly interested in the development, application, and evaluation of machine learning methods and information technology to understand, assess, and intervene the behavioral and psychopathologic aspects of social and health issues. My research at CESR will focus on the examination of survey response and survey behavior data to predict survey dropout and relevant mental health issues like dementia using machine learning techniques. I am also developing a new reinforcement learning based method to understand decision-making impairment and its interrelationship with depression and other psychopathologies in the daily environment of university students. Besides, I am conducting technology assessment research to evaluate technology-facilitated measurement approach for behavioral and mental health conditions. My method- and technology-focused publications mostly appeared on Health Informatics journals like the Journal of Medical Internet Research, JMIR Mental Health, and Methods of Information in Medicine. My application-focused publications were usually published on domain-specific journals like Preventing Chronic Disease, Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment, and Value in Health.
