Psycho-oncology and cancer control research
According to the National Cancer Institute, approximately 39.6% of men and women will be diagnosed with cancer at some point during their lifetimes. At this alarming rate, cancer will inevitably impact the majority of the population through either a personal diagnosis or through the diagnosis of a family member, friend or colleague. I am interested in how we can use psychological science to improve the lives of all those affected by cancer.
Exposure to cancer patient populations through clinical volunteer work exposed me to the dire need for more research to improve the quality of life for both cancer patients and their family members from diagnosis onwards
